General Contractor: Suffolk Construction

In April 2020, as Boston and other major cities around the world saw massive increases in COVID-19 cases, hospitals were overrun and hospital beds were hard to come by. When the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, City of Boston, Partners Healthcare, and Suffolk Construction came together to build a 1000-bed temporary hospital space inside of the Boston Convention Center, New England Finish Systems' carpenters were eager to help in any way they could. Utilizing over 100,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space at NEFS headquarters in Salem, NH, a team of more than 90 union carpenters and laborers worked around the clock to build over 10,000 sheets of drywall, which were then transported to the city 24 hours a day to ensure the facility was completed as quickly as possible.

Boston Hope helped more than 700 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 in the roughly two months that the facility was in use.
